i know i don't have the whole story and can't make a proper judgment on their character, but the story of the psychedelic architects arakawa & gins always was rather touching to me

reversible destiny, and their bold poetic and practical elaboration of the extended anthropological body into the realm of experimental architecture always felt heroically ostentatious in the face of what was to come, a public defiance of the materially inevitable through equally material technicolor magic of operative novelty, woven into surface, division, process

a flash of growth and wildness in the language of the modernity into which they were embedded, and then darkness

i feel better when the dynamic between my body and the environments that it articulates with is one of reinforcement and gradual mutual change

spent some time sitting in the back yard observing the interactions between the myriad plants and insects and animals and thinking about how to react to or encourage the patterns that we're noticing over time

A general PSA: if you keep wanting to cut off your toxic family, and you're in a position where you're able to: you can, and you should. You are NOT a bad person for doing it, you deserve love and safety.

spent some time reading on the front porch and listening to the goings-on in the neighborhood. next up, baking, plumbing, and mario party with the kitkat

wheel of time tv show

i feel like i should have a more coherent critique (i have feelings about queerness in the context of the books and show), but i'm only three episodes in and i'm curious to see how they handle some of the weirder parts of the story. also it's been a while since i've read the books so idk

wheel of time tv show

i got around to watching the first three episodes, and so far it feels like a thoughtful, good effort approach to conveying and sometimes reinterpreting source material that itself fumbles through a nonstop cascade of weirdly western hypermythic moralising dualisms and gender essentialism and male-gazey pseudofeminist weirdness

but... if anything, critically reacquainting myself with a story that i absolutely gobbled up as a teen through earnestly cheesy (the sound design is oddly surreal) television fantasy has been enjoyable
